Announcements
New, Briefer, More Specialized Formats
As previously announced, we have moved The Overlogix Sunday Times (TOST for short) from LinkedIn to Substack, so we can take advantage of better article editing features, less noise, less censorship, a better business model for our purposes, and the freedom to report on important technology news as we see fit. Our observation is that freedom of the press is meaningless absent a platform we control, and Substack, thankfully, provides such a platform.
We had been including a listing of news sources in TOST as a service to readers; however, doing that made the newsletter excessively long, so those sources will be kept here in this special edition going forward, and only referred to via a link in the actual newsletters. This special edition will be occasionally updated to include new news sources and interesting blogs as we find them. Consider it a permanent reference center for TOST.
The newsletters need to be short and to the point, covering only the news that might move the needle one way or another. We’ve internalized that point and changed our publishing plan to match.
We are also breaking up the news items into two separate editions: one for the USA and the other for Switzerland. The two regions have different enough business conditions and interests to warrant separate editions, each serving the specifics of their respective regions.
Other markets, such as the UK (plus Canada, Australia and New Zealand), the EU, Africa, Southeast Asia, India and Latin America may be considered in the future. Feedback from readers will be decisive; if we get enough engagement and requests from one of these regions, we’ll find ways of making new regional editions work.
